Each morning, after a continental breakfast you can choose between, trail walking, nordic walking or trail running with specialist guides. The walks are 3-4 hours duration, with plenty of stops to rest, and check out the local flora and fauna. This area is home to the rare wryneck, crested tit, nutcracker and black woodpecker. The wooded slopes are a perfect habitat for these birds, along with black squirrels, stoats, and deer.

The trail runs are 1-11/2 hrs duration - all at an easy run/jog pace to help you acclimatize to the altitude and the heat. Our running guides know all the trails, there's no chance of getting lost !

There's plenty to do in Anzerre with the rest of the day. An outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, golf course, tandem paragliding and mountainbiking are all popular. Or simply sitting in the sun, enjoying the views from the south facing garden of the hotel.

In the evening there will be a three course evening meal with wine, with discussions about training, diet, and injury prevention. Sports massage therapists are on hand to treat tired muscles and help prevent injuries.

2007 Alpine Trail Running & Walking Camps

Our week long trail running and walking holidays during August are based in the Swiss alpine village of Anzerre (alt 1400m). A short train ride from Geneva airport, the accommodation is in a traditional Swiss alpine chalet hotel. Your transport to and from the race, 2* half board hotel accommodation, and running and walking guides are all included, as well as entry to the running & walking trail event at the end of your stay.

Anzerre is a beautiful, quiet alpine village, south facing and looking towards the 4000m peaks of the Swiss high alps. The hotel is a short walk to the centre of the village - facilities include an open air swimming pool, tennis courts, golf course, shops, cafes and restaurants.

There are hundreds of kilometres of walking trails on the sunny, south facing slopes around Anzerre.
Famous for the variety of fauna and flora, the area has some of the highest vineyards in the Alps, irrigated by "Bises" - man made streams feeding the vineyards.

There's plenty to do in Anzerre after your walk. Relaxing in the sunny garden of the chalet, a short stroll to the village outdoor swimming pool, bars and cafes.

Each week incorporates one of the Swiss Trail Running and Walking events. The walkers set off first over the same course as the runners - a great way to end your week's holiday.
